We are hiring a UX/UI Designer

About the role

We’re looking for a UX/UI Designer with strong opinions and a clear sense of how an interface should work before it’s built. Someone who can read a brief, or sit in a client meeting, and already form a spatial, visual sense of where the project is going: the layout logic, the hierarchy, the overall feel. For this person, the thinking happens before the file, not the other way around.

We’re also looking for someone who will raise a question in a client meeting when a request doesn’t make sense, but in an engaging, questioning way, and then go back to their desk and test whether they were right.

How we work

We work across discovery, UX, and UI, often all three within the same project. We brainstorm together as a team, test our assumptions early, and adjust direction when the evidence points elsewhere. AI tools are part of that process, but we use them only to think through ideas faster, stress-test logic, and explore options before committing to pixels. If you haven’t worked this way before, that’s fine. What matters is whether the idea excites you rather than makes you uneasy.

What we’re looking for

  • A strong aesthetic sense and the ability to explain your choices clearly rather than defend them on instinct alone.
  • The ability to hold a full interface in your head and reason about it before it exists.
  • Comfort forming an opinion, testing it, and revising it when the evidence points elsewhere.
  • Genuine curiosity about why products work, or don’t.

This isn’t a junior, execution-only role, and it isn’t a senior title without senior-level ownership over the thinking behind the work. We’re looking for someone who stays engaged with hard design problems over time and who we support in turn through regular feedback, collaborative brainstorming, and the room to test ideas without pressure to get them right on the first attempt.

This way of thinking matters more to us than personal workflow preferences (whether you use Figma shortcuts, light or dark mode, or a standing desk) or whether you’ve worked in our specific industries before.

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in Figma.
  • Experience integrating AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar into research, ideation, and design workflows.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates end-to-end product thinking, not just final screens, but the process, rationale, and decisions behind them.
  • Professional working proficiency in English (written and spoken).
  • Strong understanding of UX principles, information architecture, user flows, and interaction design.
  • Ability to present and discuss design decisions with both clients and internal teams.
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to challenge assumptions through research, testing, and critical thinking.

Working Arrangement

  • Full-time position based in our Novi Sad office.
  • On-site work with close collaboration across strategy, UX, UI, and development teams.
  • Flexible working hours based on an 8-hour workday, with the freedom to start anytime between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM and finish accordingly.
  • Opportunity to work on a diverse range of digital products across industries and markets.
  • Regular feedback, mentorship, and collaborative design reviews.
  • A culture that values curiosity, experimentation, and thoughtful design over quick execution.
  • We’ll share the salary range for this role before the interview stage.

How to Apply

To apply, please send your portfolio and describe an interface you designed that you could already picture clearly before you started. What was in your head versus what ended up in the file?

Applications are open from 22 June to 27 June 2026 and should be sent to hello@weareelder.com. Please note that applications received after 27 June 2026 will not be considered.

After reviewing submitted applications, selected candidates will be invited to continue to the next stage of the hiring process.
